Steam rules don't allow difference prices, so the price must be the same. On the other hand I could sell the same game for 53.99 в‚¬ on Epic store and get the same 29 в‚¬ net income, because of Epic Store's smaller cut. On Steam the regular price for the game would be then 79.99 в‚¬ and I would got roughly 29 в‚¬ after VAT, Steam's cut and income tax.

That would cover the development (salaries, tools, licences, etc.) and make profit. Let's say that I would need to make 29 в‚¬ net income on copy to make profitable. That leads to problem as Steam has high 30% cut that take from sales. A game can't be sold elsewhere at a lower base price. Publisher sets prices, but Steam has restrictions on them (which leads them to jump of the boat and go to other places).
